  1. 1027 Hopkins Avenue (Deepak Patankar for Gabrielle Thodas DDS):

The City has received an application from Deepak Patankar on behalf of Gabrielle Thodas DDS for a Use Permit and Variance, pursuant to section 31.10, 33.19, and 43.1 of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance for a Use Permit and Variance.  The project is subject to a Use permit because the applicant is requesting to convert a single family residence into a dental office.  Additionally, the dental office is requesting a reduction in on-site parking.   The application is also for a Variance to allow for the continuation of a deck that is located within the side yard setback to allow for ADA access.  The site is 8,287 square feet and contains a 1,445 square foot residential single story dental office building on the south side of Hopkins Avenue.  The property is located within the R5-0 (High Density Residential with Office) Combining District.

  1. 851 Main Street (Renato & Diane Cusimano)

The City has received an application from Deseo, pursuant to section 2.2.2.1.a.ii.1 of Redwood City’s Downtown Precise Plan for a Conditional Use Permit to operate a restaurant with a bar/nightclub serving alcoholic beverages.  Deseo is requesting to operate seven days a week during the hours of 7am to 2am as a restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner.  Moreover, Deseo would operate as a bar/nightclub in the evening on weekends and as needed for public and private parties weekday nights.  The application also includes the sale of alcoholic beverages to be consumed on site within the establishment.   The site is 8,320 square feet, and Deseo would occupy 2,200 square feet of one of the three tenant spaces in a single story commercial retail building on the south side of Main Street.  The restaurant is located within the DC (Downtown Core) District.

  1. 2424 El Camino Real (Barbara Corff for Goodwill)

Pursuant to Sections 15.4.H, J and N of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, Goodwill Industries is applying for a Use Permit for the warehouse storage and retail sales of used merchandise at 2424 El Camino Real in Redwood City.  The project site is located within the Commercial General-Residential (CG-R) Zoning District on a double frontage parcel consisting of approximately 31,589 square feet, with Linden Street to the west and El Camino Real to the east of the property.  The existing building is approximately 15,426 square feet, and was previously occupied by a retail furniture store.  The proposal includes interior tenant improvements to accommodate the following operations:

  • Retail and ReCompute Store:  Approximately 4,540 square feet would be used as retail space for the sale of used merchandise and refurbished computers.  Deliveries and/or pick-ups of used merchandise would occur twice a day Monday through Friday and once a day Saturday through Sunday, before 9:00AM.  Retail hours of operation would be Monday through Saturday from 9:00AM to 8:00PM, and Sundays from 10:00AM to 7:00PM.
  • Storage Warehouse / ReCompute E-Waste Processing Center:  The remaining approximately 10,886 square feet would be used as warehouse space for the storage of donated merchandise, office and conference spaces for the employees, and workspace for the refurbishment of electronic parts that would be sold in the ReCompute Store or distributed to the community.  Electronic equipment that are not sold or distributed would be picked up to be delivered to an off-site location to be reused or recycled.  Warehouse/processing center hours would occur Monday through Friday between 7:00AM and 4:00PM.  Deliveries and/or the pick-up of electronic materials would occur Monday through Friday at 7:00AM.
  • Drive-Thru Donations Center:  Donors would access the site from El Camino Real and drive along the north side of the building where the donor would be met by a donation attendant.  The donor would remain in the vehicle and the attendant would unload the donor’s car and fill out a donation receipt for tax purposes.  Once the donation transaction is complete, the donor would exit the site from Linden Street.  Drive-thru hours of operation would occur Monday through Sunday between 9:00AM and 5:30PM.

No additional floor area or expansion of existing footprint is proposed as part of this project.  A total of thirty (30) parking spaces are proposed, including one (1) ADA parking stall.
