The Unit is responsible for contacting applicants and guiding them through the testing process, administering oral interviews, and giving talks and presentations at job fairs and the local police academies. The Unit is also responsible for the new officer-mentoring program. This program partners newly hired officers with veteran officers to help the transition into their new job and work environment.

The police department continues to aggressively recruit officers and fill vacancies as they occur. Due to the efforts of the Recruiting Unit the department continues to maintain the highest staffing levels in the County.
