The Redwood City Police Department's reserve unit is comprised of volunteers who have met the California Peace Officers Standards and Training requirements and have been certified by the state. They also undergo a field-training program much like that of a regular Redwood City Officer. Once all training has been completed they are required maintain 20 hours of patrol duty each month, and attend training meetings.
During a typical year, in addition to their patrol duties, the Reserves volunteer a total of 3,411 hours to support the following activities:
