Objective
Provide high quality customer services for Redwood City’s citizens and
staff, creating an environment that promotes health and safety in the community.
Overview
 Public
Works Services (PWS) delivers a diverse set of services in the community. The
department also supplies a number of services that help the City’s staff
and departments operate more effectively. These include fleet management and
operating a recycling and wastes facility for wastes generated from municipal
work.
Redwood City owns and operates 618 vehicles and pieces of equipment. These
include police and fire vehicles, various trucks and vans, utility vehicles,
construction equipment, landscape equipment, street sweepers and a tanker.
PWS maintains and services this fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Public Works Services also operates a Municipal
Service Center, which:
Manages the recycling of a variety of materials, including asphalt,
appliances, tires, batteries (plus typical recyclables such as paper, plastic,
glass etc.) which are removed from the public right of way by city crews.
- Oversees the storage and legal disposal of undesirable or hazardous wastes.
