Fall 2015 Landscape Education Program

Free ClassesSponsored by the City of Redwood City and the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA)

BAWSCA member agencies offer several classes throughout the Bay Area every Spring and Fall.

This FALL  Redwood City is hosting four classes.  Learn how to maintain or create a beautiful garden while conserving water during the drought. Redwood City's Water Conservation Program invites all residents to participate. All classes will be held at Redwood City's Public Works Office. (1400 Broadway St. Redwood City

Classes are designed to introduce homeowners, commercial property managers, landscape service providers, and others to the concepts of water-efficient and sustainable landscaping.

Fundamental of Water wise Gardening
Date: Saturday September 19th 2015
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

The class will discuss basic water-saving gardening techniques including plant selection and placement, proper irrigation, soil preparation, and design. Discover the benefits of drought tolerant plants as an alternative to your lawn, and create a water-efficient, low-maintenance landscape.

Maintaining Your CA Native Garden
Date: Saturday October 3rd 2015
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Learn how maintenance of water-conserving gardens differs from that of traditional landscapes. Lecture topics will include the care and maintenance of native and drought-tolerant plants, soil, and irrigation devices.

Water - Wise Color Palette
Date: Wednesday October 14 2015
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm  
                    
Discover how to bring pleasing, year-round color into your garden with drought tolerant plants.  Learn how to achieve a lush look in your garden with beautiful, water-efficient shrubs, grasses, trees, and flowers.

From Graywater to Green Garden
Date: TBD

Learn how you can simply and safely reuse water from sinks, showers and washing machines to irrigate plants. The class will discuss residential graywater reuse and will demonstrate how to construct a “laundry to landscape” graywater system. Participants will put together a sample system using real parts.
