Redwood City's FREE Toilet Replacement Program Uses Key Performance Standards to Ensure High Quality Toilets

The Redwood City Toilet Replacement Program uses two Performance Standards to ensure that the toilet models offered to its customers will provide High-Flushing Performance and Lifetime Water Savings.

• High-Flushing Performance : Redwood City’s Program set the flushing performance standard at 500 grams, twice the minimum of 250 grams flushing performance standard set by an independent toilet Maximum Performance Study (MaP Study), that tested all the toilet models and ranked them according to their flushing performance.

• Lifetime Water Savings : To ensure the best long-term water savings, Redwood City’s Program adopted the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power Specification, regarding flapper durability, to ensure that the gravity-fed toilet models offered will eliminate the possibility of replacement of 1.6 gallons per flush flappers with a higher water use type, hence eroding or reducing the intended water savings.
