Free WaterWise Spring Gardening Workshops!

Redwood City invites the community to attend FREE spring gardening workshops this April.

The workshops will be held at the Green Building Exchange, located at 305 Main Street, in Redwood City. For anyone with a garden, landscaping, or sprinkler systems, and an interest in saving water and money, these “WaterWise” workshops are invaluable!

At these free workshops you'll also receive a WaterWise gardening CD-ROM, high-efficiency garden hose nozzle, water conservation items, and more. Light refreshments will be served.

Learn how to beautify your garden and use water efficiently in Redwood City's annual Spring Gardening Workshops. All classes are FREE and offered on a first come first served basis. Choose one class or attend them all!


Session 1 - Irrigation Basics for Homeowners

  • Saturday, April 5th - 9 am - 1 pm

    You'll gain information on the components of an irrigation system, how to lay out, install, and maintain your system, and how to identify and solve common irrigation problems.

Session 2 - Drought Tolerant Plants

  • Saturday, April 12th - 9 am to 1 pm

    Learn the importance of using low-water-use and drought tolerant plants in your garden. You will become familiar with successful trees, shrubs and groundcovers well suited for your garden.

Session 3 - Smart Gardening

  • Saturday, April 19th - 9 am - 1 pm

    This multi-topic workshop brings together home gardening basics llike garden design, irrigation systems, scheduling, fertilizing, and plant selection.

Session 4 - Garden Design Concepts

  • Saturday, April 26th - 9 am - 1 pm

    This class will show participants the importance of implementing a design program when installing or renovating their garden. The class will focus on design concepts which factor in the use of plant material and their relationship with the surrounding environment for a water efficient garden.
