Redwood Sypmphony presents Elfman and Du Yun in concert

Go rogue with the Redwood Symphony on June 1
With influences from Ray Charles to the world of ballet, Redwood Symphony’s rogue programming is at the heart of two Bay Area premieres on Saturday, June 1, at 8 p.m. in the Main Theater at Cañada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City.
Composers Danny Elfman, former lead singer of Oingo Boingo and now a frequent collaborator in film with director Tim Burton, delights with his edgy ballet score Rabbit and Rogue; and Du Yun, a performance artist whose last album was nominated for a 2019 Grammy, entertains with her tribute to the late singing legend Ray Charles in Hundred Heads.
“This will be a concert of kinetic energy and motion, from Rossini’s popular overture to the inspirations of both Ray Charles and modern dance in their Bay Area premieres,” said Redwood Symphony Maestro Eric K, who will offer a pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m.
