Amate Art
Amate paper is made from the bark of a wild fig tree. In Mexico, the Mayas and Aztecs used Amate to record their history. Now a day Nahua artisans paint birds, colorful plants, and animals on the Amate. Join us and enjoy and hour of fun creating your Amate painting using an alternative paper. We’ll provide the supplies, you bring the creativity! For grade K-3rd. In the Makerspace.

El papel amate se elabora a partir de la corteza de una higuera silvestre. En México, los mayas y aztecas usaron Amate para registrar su historia. Hoy en día, los artesanos nahuas pintan pájaros, plantas de colores y animales en el Amate. Ven y disfruta de una hora divertida creando tu pintura Amate usando un papel alternativo.
