Teen Program: College Application Essay and PIQ's

Missed it last spring? Here’s your second chance! Join us in the Community Room.

If you couldn’t make it to the college-app writing sessions last spring, you’re in luck—this is a repeat just for you! If you already attended, no need to come again, but do please spread the word to friends who missed it!

Planning to apply to the University of California (UC) or to Common App colleges? This free session will walk you through:

  • Writing standout responses to UC PIQs
  • Approaching the Common App main essay and supplements
  • Paying attention to key differences between UC and Common App writing (plus helpful similarities)
  • Strategizing to reduce stress and write with confidence

The session is for high school seniors only, not students at other grade levels or parents. Students who plan to attend must pre-register.

This session has helped many students feel better prepared and less stressed. Past attendees comment: “Alice offers genuine and helpful college-admissions advice; her insight helped me immensely during the essay-writing process."Her help with my essays was unmatched. Would 10/10 recommend for an easier college-app experience!”

Alice adds: "My focus is always on helping students feel less overwhelmed about applying to college. My credentials: I served as the College Advisor at Menlo-Atherton H.S. for 20 years. Since retiring, I have kept well informed so I can be useful to students who need extra help (without ever charging money for my help). I particularly enjoy serving students whose parents did not go to college. All students (at the right grade level) are welcome to attend the library events. Thank you!"

This event series is sponsored by Friends of the Redwood City Public Library
