An engaging live performance with vocalist Marina Crouse as part of the Library’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. The “Bolero” is considered by many to be the "most popular lyric tradition in Latin America.” A genre of romantic songs that originated in eastern Cuba during the last part of the 19th century, and quickly gained popularity among Mexican and other Latin American composers in the 1930’s and 40’s. Today the Bolero continues to enjoy widespread appreciation by musicians and audiences alike all over the world. Marina Crouse and Danny Caron have embarked on a musical project based on their mutual love of the Bolero, culminating in the release of their album “Canto de mi corazón.” The songs they will perform, many originally from the landmark 1964 recording by Eydie Gormé and the Trio Los Panchos called “Amor,” are a collection of songs that Marina grew up hearing as a child in her grandparent’s home; they are timeless songs of love, loss, and longing for that perfect love.
Join us for an intimate night of Boleros and other Latin favorites with Marina Crouse. Visit Marina's music for a sneak peek.
