October 9 is Hangeul Day, a celebration of the creation of the Korean written hangeul (한글) alphabet by King Sejong the Great in 1446. Iwon Shin is a Korean language and culture instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience in the Bay Area. She has taught students ranging from middle school to adults through institutions such as Silicon Valley Korean School, Concordia College’s Language Training Center, and the Korean Education Center in San Francisco. In addition to language instruction, she has led numerous cultural workshops on Korean traditions, including calligraphy, food, and history. With a background in both education and the arts, Iwon is passionate about sharing the beauty of the Korean language and culture with diverse communities.
