If you are a junior planning to apply to the University of California (UC) or to colleges that use the Common Application, this free session will teach you everything you need to know to write strong responses to the UC Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) and the Common Application essay and writing supplements.
We’ll talk about the important differences between PIQ and Common App writing, and I’ll point out a few similarities, too, that will be helpful. Juniors who wish to tackle drafts of their college writing this spring or summer will have a head start when application season rolls around in fall!
This is my favorite session to present; students who have attended in the past have been appreciative! A couple of responses: “Alice offers some of the most genuine and helpful college-admissions advice, and her insight helped me immensely during the essay-writing process." And another: “Her help with my essays was unmatched. Would 10/10 recommend for an easier college-app experience!”
The session is for high school juniors only, not students at other grade levels or parents. Students who plan to attend must pre-register.
Alice adds: "My emphasis is always on lowering students' stress level in relation to applying to college. My credentials: I served as the College Advisor at Menlo-Atherton H.S. for 20 years. Since retiring, I have kept well informed so I can be useful to students who need extra help (without ever charging money for my help). I offer college-related help as a volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club and elsewhere. I particularly enjoy serving students whose parents did not go to college. All students (at the right grade level) are welcome to attend the library events. Thank you!"
