All About Herbs & Edible Flowers @ Redwood Shores

Discover or renew gardening excitement and learn the basics of growing, harvesting and using culinary herbs and edible flowers with local Master Gardener Cindi Morris.  Integrate herbs and edible flowers into your native landscapes, vegetable gardens, and containers. Maintain your plants with sustainable methods, and harvest your herbs to use fresh or you can dry them for future use.  Let’s have fun while sharing the many ideas for using herbs.

Cindi Morris's affair with plants began in the 4th grade. "I used to visit Ferry Morse Seed Company where my father worked.  I loved peeking into the labs and seeing all the experiments. The best part was picking out some seed packets to take home to grow in my backyard. I have always been amazed that you could plant a small seed, and it would grow into a beautiful flower. Today I run the herb garden at San Carlos City Hall, I have a plant clinic at San Mateo Arboretum, lecture on a variety of things but my favorite thing to still do is to grow plants from seed or cuttings."

Check out the UC Master Gardeners of San Mateo & San Francisco Counties website for more advice about what to plant at different times of year in Hot, Sunny, or Foggy Peninsula locations.

Check out CNPS's CalScape to learn about native plants you can raise to support pollinators and other creatures in our local ecosystem.

Sponsored by Friends of the Redwood City Public Library, with additional generous seed donations from OSH Redwood City
