The goal of the Makerspace is to cultivate community and advance equity by welcoming all people to experience the shared joys of literacy and learning. Come explore:

3D Printers

The Makerspace has four (4) Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ 3D printers and two (2) Ultimaker 3D printers. We supply PLA filament in a variety of colors for printing.

Acceptable Materials: PLA

May I Bring My Own Materials?: No

Project Ideas: Keychains, figurines, models, replacements parts, custom tools

Epilog Fusion Edge 24 Laser

The Makerspace has one (1) Epilog Fusion Edge 24 laser machine that can cut and engrave a variety of materials, provided for free by the Library. The library provides materials for projects (including plywood, cardboard, wood veneer and acrylic)

May I Bring My Own Materials?: No. Due to the limitations of the space we are not able to accommodate outside materials.

Project Ideas: Boxes, models, artwork

Cricut

The Makerspace has two (2) Cricut Maker 3 cutting machines that can be used to cut complex shapes from thin materials such as fabric, paper, and vinyl. We have a variety of materials, cutting mats, machine attachments, and weeding tools for you to try out. We have a heat press.

Acceptable Materials: Paper, fabric, thin cardboard, vinyl

May I Bring My Own Materials?: Yes

Project Ideas: Customized vinyl decals, batch fabric cutting for quilting, personalized greeting cards

Sewing Machines

The Makerspace has ten (10) Baby Lock Zeal sewing machines. These sewing machines are up to a variety of basic sewing tasks and are great for beginners learning to sew. We can provide everything you need to get started: fabric, thread, cutting & measuring tools, irons, sewing notions, and sewing machine attachments.

Acceptable Materials: Fabric

May I Bring My Own Materials?: Yes

Project Ideas: General sewing projects, mending, alterations, fabric repairs

When To Access: Open Sewing, Open Makers, Tiempo de Creación, ¡Lunes de Costura!

Embroidery Machine

Co-working Tools

The Makerspace room is available for co-working when the space is not in use for library programs. Please see the event calendar for the program schedule.

Reconfigurable tables and chairs for collaborative work
Small TVs with HDMI connections. Ask staff to get connected.
Laptops available from the Kiosk in the Reading Room

NOTE: Makerspace equipment is not available during this time

Learn the basics of 3D printing at this all ages event. Participants will learn about files, software, and equipment in a structured workshop, then have the opportunity to create their own small print. Space is limited for this workshop. Please register HERE. Each person who registers may bring up to two (2) additional participants per registration. If you have already attended another session of Intro to 3D Printing, please do not register for this workshop again.

Join Our Community as a Volunteer!

Volunteer to learn, create, and explore with Makerspace visitors of all ages. Contribute to our community’s shared knowledge of 3D printing, sewing, laser cutting/engraving, and more. We have volunteer roles to fit any interest, skillset, and schedule. No experience necessary—we can train you for any volunteer role.
