Redwood City, Calif. - The Redwood City Chamber of Commerce awarded Redwood City Vice Mayor Rosanne Foust its 2013 Person of the Year Award. She received her award alongside husband Jim Hartnett, former Redwood City Mayor, who was also an award recipient, at a packed Hotel Sofitel on Friday, February 1, 2014. Foust and Hartnett are the 43rd and 44th award recipients. Foust received the Person of the Year Award previously in 2009, making her one of the few people to be honored with this award a second time.

Vice Mayor Foust is a past mayor, Council Member and current Vice Mayor for the City of Redwood City. She is the Immediate Past Chair of the San Mateo County Transportation Authority and a current Board Member. She is a Board of Trustee of the Bay Area Council's Economic Institute, and a Board Member of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority. She is Chair of Peninsula TV, and serves on several other non-profit boards. For the past three years, Foust has been honored by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Most Influential Women in Business in the Bay Area. Rosanne has served on the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber's Board of Directors for over 15 years, serving as Chairman of the Board in 2003, and Deputy Chair of the Board since 2006. She is also a member of the Chairman's Council. Along many important roles and duties, Rosanne received the 2002 Chamber's Business Woman of the Year Award.

"Vice Mayor Foust receiving this award speaks to her passion for serving her community," explains Bob Bell, City Manager. "Whether on the Chamber Board or on City Council, Vice Mayor Foust understands that the City works best when we partner and work towards one common goal and vision. She constantly looks to answer the questions, 'how can government, business and non-profits work together to best serve our community, and what is the best way to accomplish our goals together.'"
The Chamber's Person of the Year Award recipient is selected by the Chairman of the Board, and recognizes the people who made the greatest impact on the success that year of the Chamber and Chamber Chairman. Stacy Wagner, the 2013 Chamber Chairman, praised Vice Mayor Foust for her solution-oriented thinking, her ability to communicate vision, and her tireless advocacy. Key considerations in determining the recipient are: enthusiasm for the overall organization, willingness to accept multiple tasks, accomplishments in many phases of the Chamber's program, and commitment and dedication to the success of their assignment.

"In the time Vice Mayor Foust and I have served together on the Council, she has proven to be a leader whose impact on the community will be long felt," states Mayor Jeffrey Gee. "It is an honor to serve as Mayor with Vice Mayor Foust helping lead the City to an even brighter future."
