We're Hiring a New City Manager — and We Want to Hear from You!

Post Date:07/25/2025 12:00 PM

The Redwood City City Council is in the process of recruiting a new City Manager following the upcoming retirement of City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz at the end of the year. As part of this important transition, the Council is inviting community members to share their input through a brief online survey.

The City Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the municipal government, leading a team of nearly 600 employees, and implementing the policy direction of the City Council. This position plays a vital role in advancing the City’s goals and ensuring effective service delivery across all departments.

The community survey provides an opportunity for residents, businesses, and stakeholders to share their perspectives on the qualities, experience, and priorities they believe are most important for Redwood City’s next City Manager. Community feedback will be one of several sources of input considered by the City Council during the recruitment process in order to attract, screen and ultimately select the best candidate.

Take the survey by August 10: www.RedwoodCity.org/NextCityManager.
