Redwood City, California — U.S. Congressman Kevin Mullin (CA-15) has secured an additional $850,000 in federal Community Project Funding for the SR 84–US 101 Interchange Reimagined project — part of a broader $12.75 million investment supporting local transportation, safety, and community infrastructure priorities across California’s 15th Congressional District. The $385 million interchange project is fully funded through a combination of federal, state, regional, and local funding.
“This funding is an important step forward for a project that will improve safety and mobility for everyone who lives, works, and travels through our region,” said Mayor Elmer Martínez Saballos. “We thank Congressman Mullin for his continued support and advocacy. His leadership helps move this transformative project closer to construction, reinforcing Redwood City’s role in strengthening transportation, supporting jobs, and improving daily life across the Peninsula.”
The SR 84–US 101 Interchange Reimagined project will reconfigure outdated ramps and intersections, create jobs, reduce trucks delays to the Port of Redwood City, expand pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and improve connections to regional trail networks and freight routes while supporting continued economic growth in Redwood City's downtown and waterfront areas. The updated interchange will enhance safety, reduce congestion, and provide multimodal transportation options for residents and commuters.
For more information, residents can sign up for project eNews and access detailed documents on the SR 84–US 101 Interchange Project web page at www.RedwoodCity.org/101-84.
