Redwood City, CA - Redwood City is inviting the community downtown this summer for Soccer on the Square, a series of free outdoor match watch parties at Courthouse Square from June 23 through July 19, 2026. Throughout this summer’s international soccer tournament, residents, visitors, and fans can gather in the heart of Downtown Redwood City to watch select matches live on the big screen, enjoy the downtown atmosphere, and take part in special match day activities.
"Soccer brings people together across countries, cultures, and generations,” said Mayor Elmer Martínez Saballos. “Soccer on the Square creates a safe place to share that energy right here in Downtown Redwood City. It is a chance to support our local restaurants and small businesses, and make this global tournament accessible to all fans, families, and neighbors."
Soccer on the Square will feature three types of Match Day Experiences, with activities varying by date and time of day. Match Viewing days will offer free outdoor viewing of select matches on the big screen at Courthouse Square. Fan Zone Match Day events will include big-screen viewing, beer and wine sales by the Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation, cornhole, and an inflatable play area. Fan Zone + Youth Interactive Zone events will offer the full family experience, including Fan Zone amenities, youth interactive activities, soccer club activations, climbing walls, lawn games, slacklines, and more.
The Soccer on the Square schedule begins Tuesday, June 23, with matches including England vs. Ghana at 1 p.m., Panama vs. Croatia at 4 p.m., and Colombia vs. Congo DR at 7 p.m. Additional watch parties are scheduled throughout the tournament, including group stage matches, knockout rounds, semifinals, the third-place match, and the final on Sunday, July 19.
Soccer on the Square is also designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore Downtown Redwood City before and after the matches. An online map highlighting local businesses, promotions, and events throughout the series is available at www.RedwoodCity.org/Soccer2026.
