Roadmap to Reopening Redwood City Businesses
The City of Redwood City is committed to supporting our local businesses reopening safely and efficiently. The State of California set forth a Resiliency Roadmap to assist reopening while shelter in orders are still in place. The Roadmap includes a four-phased approach that determines the type of business to reopen and approximately when they will be permitted to reopen dependent on progress towards public health indicators. Businesses will open with certain limitations and modifications to safeguard public health in accordance with County and State guidelines.
We appreciate the efforts of everyone in the community to flatten the curve and prevent spread of COVID-19 to the point where we can move forward with the State’s roadmap.
Four Phase Reopening
On June 17, the San Mateo County Health Officer issued a new order to align the county with Governor Newsom's Resiliency Roadmap. The new order announced is effective immediately. The local shelter in place order of June 4, 2020, was rescinded and replaced with a new order emphasizing individual behavior and the practices businesses must follow as they resume operations. With this new order, the City is effectively in Stage 3, with exceptions for nail salons, body waxing, and tattoo parlors.
Redwood City businesses that are allowed to reopen are required to adhere to industry-specific guidelines from the State for preventing the spread of coronavirus. This includes requiring face masks and social distancing, which remain in place.
