Storefront Retailers

In 2020, the City of Redwood City adopted changes to the Zoning Code and the Municipal Code to allow for storefront (retail) cannabis sales. The history of the evolution of the program can be found here. Please see the quick links below for references to the codes, City Manager regulations, and renewal information.

Six retailers were approved to operate a storefront (retail) cannabis facility in Redwood City after a lengthy analysis of the applications. The history of the selection process and who was selected can be found here.

Delivery Retailers

Redwood City’s permitted Storefront Retailers are permitted to make deliveries. There are no delivery-only retailers located in Redwood City.

If you operate a Cannabis Business located in another jurisdiction (Pacifica, Oakland, SF, etc.) and are making any deliveries in Redwood City, you are required to register your business with the Redwood City Police Department and Revenue Services and remit the Cannabis Business Tax monthly.

Process

To apply, please fill out the Registration Form and send it to:

Redwood City Police Department
c/o Admin Lieutenant

Please apply for a Business License with Redwood City. Delivery Services are required to remit the Cannabis Business Tax on all deliveries made to Redwood City by check on a monthly basis. Please contact Claire Hong at chong@redwoodcity.org with any questions about the Business License or Cannabis Business Tax.
