The only Business License Application currently accepted by the City of Redwood City is for cannabis delivery originating from outside of Redwood City. All commercial activity is banned, except for deliveries from outside of Redwood City.
The City of Redwood City recently approved an ordinance regulating cannabis business activity.
At the October 23 meeting, the City Council held a public hearing related to a phased approach to allow cannabis sales via delivery as of January 2018 and retail cannabis delivery facilities later. Council approved an ordinance limiting indoor cultivation to six cannabis plants for personal consumption, banning outdoor cultivation, and banning all commercial activity, except for deliveries. On November 13, the ordinance was adopted.
Recently, the City's Revenue Services Division sent out letters to cannabis businesses discussing the City's new regulations and the requirement to obtained a City of Redwood City Business License Tax Certificate. The City of Redwood City requires all businesses within the limits of the city to have a valid Business License Tax Certificate (Redwood City Municipal Code Section 32.105). This applies to businesses based in other cities that perform services in Redwood City as part of their work, such as contractors and delivery companies. A current Business License Tax Certificate from the City of Redwood City is required to meet the City’s requirements to deliver goods and services within the City limits.
