City Council Election for Districts 2, 5 and 6
As the current Councilmembers serve the Redwood City community at-large, the vacant seats in districts 2, 5, and 6 are considered new seats which no one has yet filled. As such, there are no incumbents and the filing deadline was not extended.
City Council districts 2, 5, and 6 will vote to elect a City Councilmember from each respective district. View the City Council Election District map to confirm the district you live in.

CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD FOR WRITE-IN CANDIDATES FOR CITY COUNCIL
Between September 12, 2022 and October 25, 2022 write-in candidates must file a statement of write-in candidacy and other required documentation with the City Clerk's Office. For more information about write-in candidacy contact the City Clerk.

**Candidates who have paid the candidate statement fee pursuant to Resolution 16058 are allowed a 200-word unedited candidate statement, and candidates who have also who have agreed to abide by the voluntary campaign expenditure limits are allowed an additional 400-word unedited candidate statement. The opinions and statements set forth are those of the candidate to whom they are attributed and do not reflect the City’s official positions on issues addressed in the statements. The candidate's statement is not a City endorsement of any candidate's candidacy, and the information is submitted to the voters by the City as a service to assist voters and for informational purposes only.

Enforcement of Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Candidates who agree to limit campaign contributions and expenditures but subsequently violate the ordinance shall, within seventy-two (72) hours of the City’s knowledge of the violation:
- Have notice of the violation forwarded to a newspaper of general circulation for publication
- Have notice of the violation posted on the City’s website
- Have notice of the violation posted at a reasonably accessible location at City Hall
- Result in removal of the 400-word written statement by the candidate that committed the violation from the City’s website, unless a fee is paid and the statement relocated in accordance with Section 2.154(D).
