Thank you for your interest in the Community Improvement Grant Program (CIGP). Redwood City wants to help jump-start your neighborhood and community improvement projects and events, and encourages you to get together with your neighbors to plan and implement a great community-building activity! The purpose of the grant program is to help get your project started so that it may become self-sustaining; the program is not intended for continual or annual support.
Grants may be between $100 and $300. Actual grant amount will be determined by staff review of your application. Ideas for community-building activities that may qualify include: a block or neighborhood party or large multi-street block party; a neighborhood-shared garden; a community clean-up project; a neighborhood newsletter or website; setting up a neighborhood watch meeting. Please note that the City does not pay for any alcoholic beverages.
If yours is an existing (repeated) project, a repeat grant may be considered; you must show how you will use this grant to substantially expand or broaden your repeat event's scope, outreach, and community involvement.
We want to help you create projects that will have a positive impact on the community, offer an opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another and work together toward a common goal of neighborhood improvement and engagement. If you have questions or would like more information, call the City Manager's office at 650-780-7300.
We look forward to hearing about your creative and fun community improvement ideas - Redwood City's CIGP can help make them happen. Thank you for helping to build a great community together!
