Community Meetings: Park Safety in Redwood City
Thank You for Your Participation!
Thank you to everyone who participated in our community meetings on park safety held in September and October 2023. Your genuine concern, insightful perspectives, and the diverse experiences shared have significantly contributed to our collective effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our community parks. Your ideas have been the driving force behind our pursuit of a safer park environment. We have completed three community meetings to date. These sessions have been instrumental in understanding the needs and suggestions from people who care deeply about our parks. To read a written summary of the input received, click here.
We are not stopping here. The Parks Commission is committed to continued engagement with the community and will be conducting one-on-one surveys with park users to gather more personalized input. The wealth of ideas we've received is currently under thorough evaluation and will be discussed at various levels, including the Police Advisory Committee, the Police Department, the Parks Commission, and by our Parks staff in the upcoming months.
This process of continual evaluation is vital as we develop and initiate plans targeted at enhancing park safety. Some of the immediate steps we are taking include increasing Police patrols in park areas, conducting comprehensive lighting evaluations, and devising improvement strategies to ensure visibility and safety at all times. Moreover, we are also planning to add more community events in our parks to foster a stronger sense of place and belonging, which is fundamental to a safe and vibrant park experience.
