Water meter and service lateral upgrades are coordinated through Redwood City's Engineering Division.

Within Redwood City

If you have applied for a Redwood City building permit for your project, contact the Permit Technician and ask to be connected with the assigned project engineer for assistance with water utilities.

Outside City Jurisdiction

Redwood City Water also services some locations in Unincorporated San Mateo County, Town of Woodside and City of San Carlos. Before issuing a permit, other jurisdictions may require projects to be reviewed by utility providers.

  • To request a water purveyor review for meter upgrades, utility verification letters, or other services, please submit an application through the Online Services PortalSelect “Water Utility Requests.” Please submit all relevant project information (Plans, approval letters, etc.) and an engineer will review your submittals and contact you with more information.

Construction Meters

Job sites that require temporary water access should apply for a Construction Meter. Please complete the form below and submit to Revenue Services for payment. Follow the instructions on the form and the Public Works Services Department will provide the meter. Agreement terms and conditions and Use Guidelines are provided on the application.
