One-Stop- Plan Review Appointments

One Stop service provides opportunities to meet with the building staff so they may review your projects and provide comments or approve your projects while you wait.

City Hall Walk-In Services: Monday-Thursday 10:00am-4:00pm. For the One-Stop service, please see details below:

 ONE-STOP IN-PERSON SERVICES:

**APPLICANT MUST BRING A DIGITAL COPY OF THEIR PROJECT**

City Hall is open to the public with limited hours. For the One Stop service, please review the following:

  • One-Stop Service Times: Monday-Thursday from 1:00pm-3:00pm

  • When you arrive at City Hall, please check-in to see a building permit technician. The permit technician will check the availability for a One-Stop appointment and review your application to see if your project qualifies for a One-Stop service.

ONE-STOP VIRTUAL SERVICES:

  • Apply online for a new building permit https://permits.redwoodcity.org/eTRAKiT/. Once your permit is successfully accepted and you've been assigned a permit number, please email permits@redwoodcity.org and request a One-Stop service.

  • The city building plan reviewer will reach out to you for further updates on your One-Stop service request.

 

Policy for "One Stop": Residential and Commercial Plan Review

Effective date: 12/01/2022

“One Stop” plan review does NOT include the following types of projects due to complexity:

  • Additions over 400 square feet
  • Additions under 400 square feet with interior remodel of existing space
  • Combination of additions and alterations finaled in the last three years
  • Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
  • Changes of occupancy 
  • Projects with valuations greater than the valuation threshold determined by California Department of General Services

Plans are also required to be prepared by an appropriate design professional for a commercial project. This includes architects, engineers, contractors for their specialties, Certified Accessibility Specialists, or other licensed and qualified design professionals. As public safety is of the utmost importance, and unlicensed designers have no governing license body, designs and plans shall not be accepted by unlicensed designers. All plans shall be signed by the designer of record and their name, license, and contact information clearly printed on the plans.

Eligible Projects

(for additions and some alterations requiring Architectural Permit, such as second story additions, the Architectural Permit must be obtained prior to scheduling the One Stop Plan Review appointment.  Structural reviews are completed within 6-8 weeks)

Requirements - What You Need To Do:

  • Prepare complete project documents
    • Residential plan submittal references & Checklist
  • Completed Building Permit Application
  • Bring the application & project documents to the appointment. All plans/drawings should be available electronically (pdf format). 

Plan Review Over-the-Counter Service

Plan Review Over-the-Counter Service is available at the City Hall Building. The service provides in-person consultation for building permit applications. Applicants and/or their representatives can meet with the City's plan reviewers and ask questions related to building permits.
