Redwood City's "Are You Ready?" Disaster Preparedness Class

The Redwood City Fire Department is collaborating with the Sequoia Healthcare District to offer a free class, "Are you Ready?" Disaster Preparedness Class. In the class, you will learn how to create a disaster plan, assemble a supply kit, conduct evacuation procedures, and prepare for and respond to specific disasters. Space is limited, please RSVP. This FREE one-to-two hour class covers the basics of what to do before, during, and after a major emergency. You will learn how to:
- Create a family/office disaster plan
- Assemble home/office and portable disaster supply kit
- Shelter in place
- Evacuation procedures
- Prepare for and respond to specific disasters
The Redwood City Fire Department offers training at the Fire Station or at your location, to neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and community groups of 20 or more.

"Are You Ready?" is a great lead-in to our Community Emergency Response TEAM (CERT) training program. After completing Redwood City's "Are You Ready?" class, you and/or your group may be interested in our CERT training. This 20 hour course is held over several weeks and will engage you with in-depth coverage of topics including disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, disaster medicine, fire suppression, communications and the incident command system. The CERT Academy is also free!
The success of Redwood City’s Community Emergency Response Team and overall community preparedness program depends on you - your neighborhood and community will need your help in the event of disaster! We urge you to become a part of our community-based disaster response team, and to encourage your friends and neighbors to become involved in the "Are You Ready?" and CERT programs.
