About Library Takeover
In the summer of 2019, Redwood City Public Library created Library Takeover, and invited members of the Redwood City and North Fair Oaks communities to reach out to us with ideas for new Library programs or events that would help us connect with people who don’t normally use the Library. The program provided one-time grants of up to $1,000 to groups in the community to develop each Library Takeover event. Teams selected for grants also received assistance from our Library staff to produce and publicize their Library Takeover activities. The goal of the program is to bring more people into the Library, particularly those from underserved or under-represented populations, and to help them see the Library as a welcoming place and a valuable resource.
Library staff received twenty-two applications, and were truly impressed by the thought, effort, passion, and creativity behind each submission. An evaluation team selected eight programs, some of which include multiple sessions, for implementation in 2019 and 2020. Library Takeover is sponsored by the SAGA Foundation and the Friends of the Redwood City Public Library.

¡En agosto de 2019, anunciamos los ganadores de la “Toma de la Biblioteca"! Estos son los miembros de la comunidad que recibirán una beca de la biblioteca para el diseño e implementación de su programa o evento de la biblioteca:

• El Autismo Va a Trabajar (Biblioteca Central), Maisie Soetantyo
• Festival de la Herencia Polinesia (Biblioteca Central), Kristina Perino
• Celebración del Festival Chino de la Luna (Biblioteca Sucursal Redwood Shores), Sunny Su
En el verano de 2019, la Biblioteca Pública de Redwood City creó “Toma de la Biblioteca” e invitó a miembros de las comunidades de Redwood City y North Fair Oaks a que nos enviaran ideas para nuevos programas o eventos de la Biblioteca que nos ayudarían a conectarnos con personas que normalmente no hacen uso la biblioteca. El programa proporcionó becas únicas de hasta $1,000 a grupos de la comunidad para desarrollar cada evento de la “Toma de la Biblioteca”.
