The Lost Childhoods art exhibit, tells the story of loss and powerlessness in the foster care system – and the human capacity for resilience and connection. In the words of one contributor, “The foster care system leaves a footprint of loss and I’ve had to unlearn every single way the system raised me.” Experience the largest collection of art, artifacts and video portraits about youth experiences in foster care. Conceived by current and former foster youth, the museum offers a unique opportunity to understand foster youth perspectives and how youth can heal and grow with supportive relationships, collaborative decision‐making, positive encounters, and respect.

The exhibit is available for public viewing during the months of April 2025 and May 2025. The exhibit and program series is offered in partnership with Foster Youth Museum and  CASA of San Mateo County.
