Redwood City's City Council meeting will include the acceptance of a Welcoming Week proclamation, as well as a formal recognition of two Welcoming Stars of the community.

The Donut King Documentary Screening
TUE SEP 12, 5:30-7:30pm
This documentary follows a Cambodian refugee family who found a home in California and transformed the donut industry while sponsoring numerous other refugee families seeking safety. This event is free to the community, and donuts will be served!

Cultivating Connections: Exploring Cultural Humility in the Nonprofit Community
WED SEP 13, 2-3:30pm
Join Thrive Alliance and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) in our Welcoming Week program! Welcoming Week is an annual campaign that celebrates the work in communities to become welcoming places for all, including immigrants. Many nonprofits play a key role in working with immigrants to support their integration into their communities. In this session, we will talk with leaders of nonprofits that work directly with immigrants to learn about their strategies for embracing cultural humility, lessons learned through their experiences, and tips and resources to support immigrant communities better.

Know Your Rights Workshop

This workshop will provide resources, information, and refreshments from the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area, El Concilio of San Mateo County, Legal Aid Society, and more. Topics will include immigration rights, AB60 licenses, the expansion of Medi-Cal, and other public benefits.
