Advocates
Community members, parents and providers can all be advocates for child care and early learning. Here are some ways to get involved in providing affordable child care for all:
Run for your local School Board
Redwood City School District and Belmont-Redwood Shores School District need passionate advocates for children to provide strategic guidance for the districts. School board members can influence how Transitional Kindergarten and Child Development Program are implemented and use their voice to advocate at the state level for more funding and investments in children.
Join the Child Care Partnership Council
The San Mateo County Office of Education runs the state-mandated Child Care Partnership Council. Being a member allows you to advocate for policies and programs for all of San Mateo County.
Become a Child Care Advocate
The State of California runs a Child Care Advocacy Program to share information with parents, providers, employers, educators and community groups.
The Thriving Families site has also collected a number of different organizations that you can work with to use your voice for change!
