What's New?

Redwood City’s Annual Holiday Toy & Book Program Public safety agencies in San Mateo County, including the City of Redwood City Fire and Police Departments, have teamed up to bring smiles and holiday spirit to children in need through the Annual Holiday Toy and Book Drive. Emergency Shelter Activation

November 15 - April 15
During inclement weather, extreme cold or hot temperature, or poor air conditions, the County may activate emergency shelters.  Visit the Fair Oaks Community Center, 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm for information about activations.

The Fair Oaks Community Center is a multi-service facility offering a variety of services to the broader Redwood City Community.  The Fair Oaks Community Center is located at 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City.  Days/Times vary depending on the program or service:

Information & Referral
Food, Shelter, Housing, and other Emergency Assistance/Social Services.  Provided by City of Redwood City, Monday-Friday, 8am-11am; Mon/Wed/Fri, 1-4pm (no drop-in hours 2nd Friday of the month); Thursdays, 3:00pm-4:00pm.  (650) 780-7500.

Homeless Help Desk

Food and other basic necessities available for homeless individuals and/or families. Provided by Fair Oaks Community Center.  Monday-Friday, 1:15pm-2:15pm. (650)780-7500

Mobile Shower and Laundry Service

Free Mobile Shower and Laundry Service for the homeless.  Provided by Dignity on Wheels, a project of WeHOPE.  Wednesdays, 2:00pm-6:30pm at Fair Oaks Community Center, 2600 Middlefield Rd., Redwood City. (650)780-7500.

Older Adult Activity Center

Peninsula Family Service/Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center
Exercise and fitness programs, nutritious meals, preventative health screenings, enriching classes and activities, information and referral for seniors. Provided by Peninsula Family Service, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. (650) 780-7525.

Childcare and Early Child Development Program

Redwood City Child Development Program
Toddler Program and Pre-School Program for children ages 1-5 years old with working parents. Fees based on family income. Provided by Redwood City Child Development Program, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:30pm (650) 780-7520.

ESL/Citizenship Classes

IIBA
Classes to prepare for Citizenship test.  Provided by the International Institute of the Bay Area.

Tenant's Rights Clinic

Counseling, advice, and representation for evictions and disputes over the condition of premises. Provided by Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County. Wednesdays, 9:00am-12:00pm. Call (650) 517-8911 for an appointment.
