Public Art

For information on the Public Art Master Vision Plan, click here

In Redwood City, our City Council has committed to public art as a means for promoting vibrancy, defining cultural uniqueness, building community, improving the quality of life, and making Redwood City THE arts, culture, and entertainment destination on the Peninsula.  To that end, the Arts Commission Strategic Plan outlines the significance of art in our city and states the goal of investment in public art. The Public Art Component of the Redwood City Arts Commission Master Plan seeks to provide a clear and operable framework for the Commissioning, selection and acquisition of public art in a way that encourages transparency and accountability.

The Redwood City Arts Commission, on behalf of the Redwood City Council, is responsible for supporting and enhancing cultural life in Redwood City. It works toward this goal through the following roles:

  • Advocate: Promotion of events, arts, and related programs
  • Funder: Allocation of grants
  • Broker: bringing groups together to support the arts
  • Provider: Concert series, art contests, public art
