Welcome to the Redwood City Police Department
Welcome
|
Redwood City, we hear you. We know you have questions and we want to share information to enhance transparency and provide greater access to data that we have collected. We want to be upfront that while we may not be able to answer all your questions now, we are working towards the common goal of sharing more about who our Redwood City Police Department is, how they represent the community, and how they spend their time serving you. Providing information online about the way we work and the policies that govern us is just one of the ways in which we are enhancing transparency. The ability to readily access public information encourages inclusion, allows you to be better informed about Police Department operations, and helps us work together to keep our community safe. If you have suggestions on what else you would like to see or how we can organize this information in a more helpful way, please share by emailing communitypolicing@redwoodcity.org. |

The ability to readily access public information about the Redwood City Police Department encourages inclusion, enables the public to be better informed of our operations, and promotes the spirit of working together to keep our community safe.
While the dashboards are rich in data, categorizations, and summations, each invite users to explore without formulated conclusions or framed narrative. Providing raw data and information online about the way we work and the policies that govern us is just one of the ways in which we are further advancing transparency within the Redwood City Police Department.
What's New? (October 2022)
We have a new dashboard! Our new Community Wellness and Crisis Response dashboard is now live here. On this page, you will find data showing the activity and support our mental health clinician provides as part of the City's participation on the Community Wellness and Crisis Response Team (CWRCT).
Starting from October 2022, the mental health clinician will be reporting activities through an internal application which feeds into this public dashboard. The data is currently from September 13, 2022 and on. Please note that there may be delays in data availability, as mental health crisis response and support takes priority. Thank you for your patience and support.
Visuals and Dashboards to Help Understand the Data
The City Manager's Office in collaboration with RCPD and the City's GIS and Analytics Division have generated several visuals from the data RCPD routinely collects and processes for the purpose of this project.
The primary topics covered are:
- Police Staffing
- Police Demographics
- Police Promotions
- Police Budget
- Police Activity
- Arrests
- Use of Force
Each of these is shown in an overview and in depth fashion. The overviews are printable one-page PDFs seen below, and the in depth visuals are interactive dashboards hosted on the pages linked below.
