Reserve Officer Program

The Redwood City Police Department's reserve unit is comprised of volunteers who have met the California Peace Officers Standards and Training requirements and have been certified by the state. They also undergo a field-training program much like that of a regular Redwood City Officer. Once all training has been completed they are required maintain 20 hours of patrol duty each month, and attend training meetings.

During a typical year, in addition to their patrol duties, the Reserves volunteer a total of 3,411 hours to support the following activities:

  • Warrant Service
  • Tis the Season Parade
  • Toys for Tots deliveries
  • New Years Eve "Silent Night" Task Force
  • Cinco de Mayo Festival
  • Citizen Police Academy Presentations
  • Honor Guard Duties
  • CharityFun Run
  • 4th of July Festival and Parade
  • Police Boat Special Events
  • Public Safety Day
