Biography
Lieutenant Villegas began her career with the Redwood City Police Department in September of 2000 and has held a variety of specialty assignments during her time including School Resource Officer, Community Policing Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Downtown Service Unit, a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team and served on the San Mateo County Youth Threat Assessment panel.
In 2019, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, she served as a patrol supervisor and the Crisis Negotiations Unit Team Leader. In August 2023, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and currently serves as the weekend watch commander.
Lieutenant Villegas graduated from Adams State University in Colorado with a degree in criminology. In 2022 she was a graduate of the Women’s in Leadership Academy as well as the Los Angeles Police Department’s Leadership Program and recently served as a facilitator for the San Mateo County Inner Perspective Leadership program.
Administrative Unit
The Administrative Unit is responsible for developing Department policies, grant management, personnel training, Internal Affairs Program management, Public Records Act requests, special projects and the issuance of various event permits. The Administrative Unit is overseen by a police lieutenant who also serves on several committees and acts as a liaison for the Department and various City departments, the Planning Review Committee, and special events committees.
