Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - March 10, 2020
March 10, 2020: In continued response to the guidance from San Mateo County Health Department's, please see the following updates on programs, events and service delivery modifications. Please note that as new information is available, further adjustments may be needed. With updated information, the City may decide to postpone smaller programs and events, as well as those scheduled after March 31. Check the City’s online events calendar at www.redwoodcity.org for the most up-to-date information.
Reservation of City facilities: Community rooms and meeting room reservations at Library and Community Center facilities are being honored, but groups will be encouraged to cancel reservations if the events are non-essential.The City will reimburse any reservation fees. The City will not be accepting new reservations of City facilities for rentals through the end of May. No new meeting room reservations will be accepted for dates through May 31, 2020.
Postponed Events/Programs or Service Modifications:
Library and Parks, Recreation, and Community Services events scheduled through March 31 with anticipated attendance greater than 50, and Senior programs with attendance greater than 25 are being postponed, including:
Library
- Juggler Owen Baker Flynn (March 11 at Fair Oaks, March 21 at Redwood Shores)
- Kindercard Super Saturday (March 14, including Owen Baker-Flynn)
- Library Takeover Drumming Circle Night at Fair Oaks (March 20)
- Veterans Resource Fair (March 25)
- Children’s author Laura Numeroff (March 28).
Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
- Native Daughter’s Dinner (March 12)
- St. Patrick’s Day Senior events (week of March 16)
- RPEA Luncheon (March 19)
- PHWC Bingo Event (March 21)
- Senior Scam Stopper Program (varied days through end of month)
- All Wider Circle Senior Social programs (varied days through end of the month)
- Friday Senior Movie and Lunch program (until the end of the month)
- Senior lunch programs will be prepared as “to-go” only at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center
- After School sports programs, in partnership with the School District (team sports) are canceled until further notice
- Libraries have temporarily removed shared toys and puppets from common areas in libraries in order to sanitize them and keep them sanitized until the risk of potential exposure has passed
Regular Service Delivery
- Programs under 50 people at one time, like Recreation classes, library storytimes, after school homework help, technology drop-in classes, Little Learners, and craft programs will continue to be held until further notice
- After School programs on school campuses run by the City, will continue to operate
- The Redwood City Public Library's four locations and the Project READ program will remain open for all regularly scheduled business hours
