Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - March 13, 2020
March 13, 2020: Last night, the City Council unanimously proclaimed a local state of emergency and earlier today, the President of the United States declared a national emergency to help with the nation's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Today, San Mateo County Health Officer Dr. Scott Morrow issued a School Operations Modification Order that will take effect on Monday, March 16, 2020, and remain in force through Friday, April 3, 2020, unless amended by the County or State health officer. Read the press release here
In light of these new developments during this very fluid situation, the City has several updates to provide to the community. The public should be prepared for further changes, as more information becomes available from our public health officials and as directed by state and federal leadership. The below changes will remain in effect through at least March 27, at which time they will be re-evaluated and subject to change.
Non-Essential Services Update (programs to be postponed or canceled)
- All youth sports programs (like AYSO, Juventus, Little League, Girls Softball, etc.) have postponed their seasons until further notice
- After School Programs and Library After School Homework Help will be canceled effective Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 2 (per Dr. Morrow's School Operations Modification Order)
Modified Service Delivery (services available by appointment only)
- All four Redwood City Public Library locations have temporarily disabled some of the public computers to ensure social distance between users
