Magic Lantern 3-D Video Mapping Show
The Redwood City Improvement Association (RCIA), a non- profit community benefit district that works to enhance the Downtown Redwood City experience, announces the return of the Magic Lantern 3-D Show starting on Tuesday, May 1. The Magic Lantern 3-D Show is a weekly 3-D video mapping light show designed by world-renowned light show artist, Bart Kresa, that was originally launched in 2015. Starting in May, the RCIA will be cycling through some of Redwood City’s favorite Magic Lantern 3-D Shows every Tuesday. The Magic Lantern 3-D Show projects onto the San Mateo County History Museum for a free 15-minute show. In addition, the RCIA will be displaying additional pop-up screensavers on the San Mateo County History Museum throughout the spring with varying images that residents and visitors can catch on any given day.
The Magic Lantern 3-D Show will cover the San Mateo County History Museum with a plethora of colorful lights—taking viewers through a journey of all of the best shows. The shows include: RWC 150, featuring a mysterious time-traveling robot honoring Redwood City’s history; Sea-ing is Believing, a water-inspired light show featuring ocean creatures; The Springtime Show, featuring scenes from St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Cinco de May and Giants Opening Day; and ‘Dia de Los Muertos’, a Halloween- inspired show.
The additional RCIA screensavers will pop up spontaneously for residents and passersby to enjoy. Recent screen saver pop-ups consisted of raining shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day and rolling Easter eggs during Easter weekend.
Shows are for all ages and are approximately 15 minutes in length.
